Not to far from our house you'll find Derrynane house. This was the home of Daniel O'Connell, a famous Irish person who lived during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. He helped Catholics to win the right to become Members of Parliament and also wanted Ireland to have its own parliament. He became known as the “Liberator” because he looked for rights for Irish people. Nowadays the house hosts a museum and is surrounded by a beautiful park. On the route to Sneem, in an isolated location you can find the Staigue fort, a ring-shaped fortification from the stone age and one of the largest and finest ring forts you are likely to see in Ireland. Particularly interesting is the staircase system that leads to the wall.

The Ring of Kerry is a scenic drive around the Iveragh Peninsula. Its 179km-long, circular route takes touches rugged and verdant coastal landscapes and rural seaside villages. One of the highlights are the Skellig Rocks, rocky islands with an abandoned 7th-century Christian monastery which can be reached by boat. We will be happy to arrange your trip there! Popular attractions at the Ring of Kerry are also the Gap of Dunloe and Muckross house near Killarney. South of Killarney, the main attractions within the Killarney National Park are Ross Castle, Lough Leane and Ladies View, a panoramic viewpoint which attracts visitors in particular.

We are also located on the Kerry Way long distance walking route and are well prepared for the special needs hikers have. We cooperate with the other B&Bs on this route and provide luggage transfer if requested.

If you are an angler then the coast is within walking distance from the house! Nearby Waterville is a mecca for golfers! Two beautiful courses, the Waterville Golf Club and the Skellig Bay Golf Club enable you to play golf at the highest level!
