Location
Shamrock Cottage is located in the beautiful and remote Black Valley near Killarney, Co.Kerry. 
As it is part of a working farm, our horses, cows and sheep graze the surrounding fields against the backdrop of Ireland's highest mountains.
There are plenty of possibilities for walking and hiking. We are in walking distance to the Gap of Dunloe as well as to the Upper Lake of Killarney. 
The location enables you to visit these tourist attractions at times when the many other visitors are long gone and to enjoy the awesome solitude. The ascent to Purple Mountain is possible from the top of the road to the Gap of Dunloe. The short
hike on the mountain will be rewarded with beautiful views!
Cummeenduff Lake is popular with anglers who fish for free in the clear waters. The best way to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Glen is by walking around the lake.
The upper of the Killarney Lakes is only a short walk away. A boat will bring you to the other side
and closer to the other favourite spots within Killarney National Park!
